Dr. Nikil Patel

Dr. Nikil Patel is a distinguished optometrist, certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Raised in Indianapolis, His educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Indiana University, leading him to achieve a Doctor of Optometry degree from the renowned Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr. Patel's rigorous training includes experience at notable institutions such as Aran Eye Associates in Miami, FL; Guanajuato Eye Clinic in Mexico; Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX; and the LASIK Vision Institute in Atlanta, GA. Since 2004, he has been a dedicated practitioner in the Atlanta area.

Dr. Patel's expertise extends to fitting specialty contact lenses, including those for astigmatism, multifocal needs, and corneal reshaping lenses that offer an alternative to glasses or daytime contacts. His extensive experience encompasses managing and treating a wide array of ocular diseases, such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy, and providing care for patients post-LASIK and cataract surgery. Since 2010, he has specialized in fitting orthokeratology lenses.

A committed member of the optometric community, Dr. Patel is involved with several professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, and the Greater Atlanta Optometric Association, alongside being a part of the Beta Sigma Kappa National Optometric Honor Society. His past roles have seen him as the treasurer and board director for the American Association of Corporate Optometrists. He volunteers for the Special Olympics Vision Exams and supports local sports teams at Campbell High School and the Walker Wolverine Club.

Further highlighting his commitment to advanced eye care, Dr. Patel is a certified Paragon CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) practitioner and a Certified WAVE Contact Lens Designer. Beyond his clinical excellence, Dr. Patel is deeply committed to giving back to the community. He volunteers his expertise to various programs aimed at providing essential eye care to the underserved, including the Georgia Lions Lighthouse, Luxottica's Gift of Sight, One Sight, Essilor's Kids Vision for Life, and World Sight Day activities. In addition, he volunteers for the Special Olympics Vision Exams and supports local sports teams at Campbell High School and the Walker Wolverine Club.

His dedication to the field was recognized through his selection to the inaugural Advisory Board for the Dry Eye Centers of America, underscoring his leadership and expertise in optometry.

Outside his professional life, Dr. Patel cherishes time spent with his family—his wife, Shivani, and their two children, Ishan and Zara—and enjoys sports, highlighting his well-rounded approach to life and work.
